Scrimnea

Central Scrimnea Description

Central Scrimnea is characterized by the Baesta Grassland in the central region, the massive, flat, and rough country being the empires largest biome. To the south the Straeban Jungle encompasses a large part of the southern coast. To the north the Tattered Coast leaves little access to the Galmanoch Sea – the rough coastline of cliffs and sounds home to rough seas and harsh storms. To the east the Fell and Fate rivers stop the progression of the Baesta Grassland, and the start of the Rheysian hills with the small inter-river area of the Dolmians marks the end of Central Scrimnea.

Eastern Scrimnea is characterized by mostly flat plains, rolling hills, and some large forests. The Zapioni Plateau is a major feature in the central of the continent, and it vastly influences trade routes due to its size and location. The plateau receives much rainfall as storm systems come south across the Horn of Scrimnea. This water feeds the Kornell Minor. Kasochi to the south is a kingdom that is in constant flux with the residents of the Squids, mainly consisting of pirates and raiding clans. The Kasochi breed the finest horses in the world. The Horn of Scrimnea provides much of the Empires food stores, as it is civilized and there are easy roads that lead to Tenemen. The Horn is also a major port and trade route to Krill, where Gruleighan and Drench slaves, furs, and other goods flow in.

Rhey constitutes the easternmost reaches of the Scrimnean Empire. The country is dominated by soft rivers, rolling hills, and cedar forests. The country is known for its wine, gemstones, and olive oil. The wide Avoni bay forces travelers to cross the Fell and Fates rivers to the west of the kingdom, but the well worn paths and roadways are easily accessible.

Our History

Scrimnea was first named by the Strophicus during the First War as they began carving out territory. Prior to this the land was occupied by small settlements and fledgling kingdoms. Their history is scarcely important and was scarcely recorded.

Scrimnea first conquered the lands of the Horn of Scrimnea, then conquered Kasochi. Their cultural influence and the draw of having the stable government of Tenemen City was attractive to the small towns and cities along the coast and in the Baesta Grassland. Many joined willingly to the growing Empire.

The country of Straeba was annexed after an invasion while the Maynich were still working to rebuild the land that they had destroyed during the First War. This was widely seen as a betrayal of the Maynich as Straeba was their ancenstral homeland. The Maynich disappeared after this, and nobody was able to determine where they went even though many are seen in cities.

Nearly 500 years after the creation of Tenemen City Scrimnea waged war with Rhey, who was even then still incredibly weakened by the First War. The war lasted for 12 years and ended with Rhey agreeing to peace. This deal allowed Rhey more flexibility and autonomy than kingdoms like Kasochi or Straeba.
