Malum

Creation

Malum were created to fight alongside humans and Sanguin during the Elemental Wars. They were solely created by Justin Walker using existing animals and splicing together their characteristics. Many of the species used to create the malum are now extinct malum varied wildly in type and usefulness. Since Justin Walker did not know the best tactic to use against the Eids, he created things of various size and shape. The malum were voracious in battle and proved excellent tools in the fight.

Upon winning the Elemental Wars Justin Walker relinquished his control over the malum, no longer binding them to help humans. They then spread all over the earth and often turned against their human companions – they had become wild again. Many malum species were created with heightened intelligence, and pack tendencies to help with scouting. Only certain malum were bread to actually kill eids.

Malum Species:

Drench Goblin – named after the country in which they ended up residing, these small, hairless cat-like creatures pilfer food and hoard it via a marsupial pouch. This was meant to dissolve Eid supplies.

Livinlogs – large multi-limbed alligators with chameleon skin; they prowl waterways and are especially common along the Kornell Major river where food like fish, other livinlogs, deer, and occasionally humans, are plentiful. They were created to deny Eids access to crossing rivers.

Duladero Ite (Dripping Kites) – these massive bat-like creates were meant to carry Eids high in the air and them drop them. They cannot fly, as their bodyweight is too great, but they are expert climbers and glide down at lightning speeds to ambush prey. They are now found prowling high mountains and are only located in the Mal Noraki mountains. They are fighting a sort of war with the Noraki Eids.

Carolina Sand Snakes – these are the largest land animal in the world. They never stop growing, and are able to go years without food or water, buried deep underground. They are subterranean, blind, and possess thick armored plating on their backs. They are very flat animals, although that can lead to them being very wide. Not many sand snakes exist because of the amount of food they require. The largest recorded sand snake was over 120 feet long and was as big as a small hill. They are found in the Slottish Desert, and a smaller species can be found in Kasochi.

Synesthesian Butterfly – A butterfly that allows for powerful hallucinations through snorting the dust from its wings. The drug can grant visions of the future very similar to Darendrian abilities, and can also grant you access to the psychological state of someone who mixes their blood with the dust. It is used ritualistically in Noraki Eid culture. It has vibrant purple coloring and glows in the dark.

Usbeki Wolves – These are just wolves that are as large as horses. They are savagely intelligent and have bonded over time in a symbiotic relationship with the Ligna Terran Eids. They are fiercely loyal.

Plains Raptors – were originally designed as scouts. They are the most intelligent of all the malum species, capable of learning rudimentary sign language and picking up language and intentions of humans around them. They are feral now and often form large tribes in which they fight wars with one another on the Baesta Grassland, their sole habitat. They are typically characterizes by harsh red/orange eyes and coarse black fur. They are as large as regular wolves, though much, much faster.
