Early life
Denali grew up in the Slottish Grassland, but his parents were murdered and he was sold into a life of slavery. He excelled during his time in a fighting put, and gained renown for his martial prowess. He was picked up eventually by Andrew and Justin Walker, along with Aedan and John Langley.
Middle years
He was assimilated into what became known as the Family, a growing group of prototype Sanguin that Andrew and Justin were using as test subjects for eventual creation of the Sanguin Houses. Through an extremely painful transformation process, he was given powers that allowed him to push and pull objects he has touched, as well as severely increased speed and stamina.
He was entrusted with the Demand of Excision. He was sent out to cull other prototype Sanguin that had gone rogue for his first several dozen years. He also put down violent groups of humans who threatened the world order Justin and Andrew sought to create. This lasted much longer.
After the creation of the Sanguin Houses, Denali grew to become a figurehead of maintaining order through excising people, practices, or ideals that were deemed to be destructive to the whole of society.
During the Elemental Wars, Denali became the general of all human and Sanguin armies in their fight against the Noraki Eids. He fought in numerous battles, leading from the front, and commanding millions. This culminated with a direct confrontation with Articuli, the Noraki elder who had become the leader of the Noraki forces. Denali lost this fight, but was ultimately successful as a plea for an end to the violence eventually swayed Articuli.
Denali then marched north to fight the Ligna Terran Eids. This fighting went on for much less time, ending when the Ligna Terran Eids abandonded their faith and fled into the high north to solitude. Denali returned back to Mont Vin after the wars.
Denali did not stay at Mont Vin long. He traveled to the East to assist in forming the Carolinian Empire. After the government was established he returned home for many years. Eventually he was convinced by John Langley to participate in a plot to kill Andrew Walker. This plot succeeded, and directly afterwards John gave Denali the Iustit, an axe that he told Denali to hide. Denali left Mont Vin and had not returned since.
Later years
Upon the collapse of the Carolinian Empire Denali was a wanderer, hunted by Glenn of the Eids and Vidaea for his role in the death of Andrew Walker. Denali eventually was found by Justin Walker and was given the Aspect of Fear to assist him in running from Vidaea and Glenn. The Aspect possessed him entirely for many years before relinquishing control. During this time he killed many innocents, and the rumor of the Rook was started.
As the First War started near the Kornell Major, the Aspect of Fear once again took control of him, and lead him to join the fighting on the side of the Delphian forces. He became their commander, killing Sanguin and humans mercilessly and solidifying his moniker as the Rook. He destroyed the entirety of House Daydrew during this time in the event known as La Dia de Disecta Membra.
During the final years of the First War, Denali met Treyna, a Tramarian who forced the Aspect of Fear to relinquish control, then taught Denali how to suppress it indefinitely. He ended up marrying Treyna and founding Third Day Vineyard in Rhey with the help of Lof Loric.
Many years after the vineyards founding, Treyna left the vineyard for an extended time and came back and told Denali she had given birth to a child that was not his. His control on the Aspect of Fear faltered and he murdered Treyna. He went looking for the father and child directly after, and ended up killing the man. He sustained a serious injury from this fight.
Denali wandered for a time before finding his way back to Third Day. He told Lof Loric that the memory of staying at the place was too hard, and so moved himself to a new home that was away from humans, and that would be very hard for Glenn and Vidaea to find him – the town of Knox in the Lachian Mountain range. He returned to Third Day Vineyard many times, but never stayed long. He was often accompanied by Lof to Knox, who eventually moved there as well.
